RB Salzburg make Benjamin Sesko transfer situation 'very clear' after agent's Newcastle visit

Red Bull Salzburg have insisted that Benjamin Sesko's situation is 'very clear' after the striker's agent got Newcastle United supporters excited following his trip to Tyneside.

Elvis Basanovic posted photographs from both Newcastle Airport and the Quayside on his Instagram stories on Tuesday evening before later deleting the posts after they were spotted by eagle-eyed fans the next day. Given how Sesko is Basanovic's most valuable client, the agent's visit naturally got fans speculating when Newcastle like the player and are actively trying to bring in more firepower.

The exact nature of Basanovic's visit is still not clear although it is certainly not uncommon for agents to embark on fact-finding missions to learn more about potential destinations for their clients. Various figures now working behind the scenes at Newcastle have also previously been known to let agents know the club are tracking one of their young clients long before they even make a formal bid.

However, after already letting forward Karim Adeyemi join Borussia Dortmund last month, RB Salzburg unsurprisingly have no plans to sell the 19-year-old this summer.

"The situation is very clear," a club source told ChronicleLive. "Benjamin Sesko is a young and very important player for FC Red Bull Salzburg with a long-term contract and we are planning to play with him the season."

You would not expect the club to say otherwise and it remains to be seen if that stance is eventually tested by Newcastle. Sesko, himself, had planned on 'definitely' staying at Salzburg for at least another campaign as part of his development.

Sesko only became a regular at the Red Bull Arena last season, but Slovenia's youngest ever goalscorer has already played in the Champions
