Rassie doesn't expect Kriel head clash to raise World Rugby's ire: 'It was tackled on the ball'

SA Rugby director of rugby Rassie Erasmus doesn’t expect Springbok midfielder Jesse Kriel to be censured for his head clash with Scotland's No 8 Jack Dempsey in Sunday's Rugby World Cup clash in Marseille.

Kriel clashed with Dempsey in the course of a tackle, a typical incident dealt with in World Rugby's crusade to govern head clashes and the symptoms that could arise from a concussion perspective.

In Saturday's Pool D game between England and Argentina in Marseille, England flank Tom Curry was sent off for a head clash with Argentina's fullback Juan Cruz Mallia.

Curry was initially yellow-carded by French ref Mathieu Raynal, but through the Television Match Official (TMO) bunker review, it was upgraded to a red card.

Curry will face an independent judicial disciplinary committee hearing on Tuesday that could affect his availability for Sunday's game against Japan in Nice.

Erasmus said on Monday they haven't been flagged by World Rugby and he doesn't think they will be called in by the governing body because, in his opinion, Kriel's tackle was legal.
