Brighton handed key selection boost ahead of Manchester United Premier League clash

Brighton and Hove Albion look likely to hand a debut to new signing Ansu Fati against Manchester United this weekend.

As the summer transfer window drew to a close, the Seagulls managed to bring in the Barcelona winger on loan for the remainder of the season. Despite having struggled with injury issues, the 20-year-old is still considered to be one of Europe's top prospects.

Although he signed prior to the registration deadline, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi opted not to play him in their victory over Newcastle United. But, the manager's comments ahead of the clash with Eddie Howe's men gave an indication as to his selection plan post-international break.

He told reporters: "[For Newcastle] it was not the best solution [for Fati and Carlos Baleba to play]. They have not yet started working with us.

"We have to give them the right time to be inside, to come inside to work. Then we will be there, next game."

"I'm very pleased," De Zerbi added of signing Fati. "We lost [Julio] Enciso and we needed one big player. We are lucky because we have a lot of young players, potential top players and it will be one responsibility more."

Both United and Brighton are suffering with injury headaches ahead of the return of the Premier League. The Reds' worries have been well documented with Sofyan Amrabat the latest player to join the treatment room after pulling out of the Morocco national team.

As for Saturday's visitors, they are sweating on the fitness of Evan Ferguson. The Irish teenager pulled out of their qualifiers over the break due to injury and is a doubt for the weekend.
