Rasmus Hojlund arrives at Carrington as he steps up Manchester United rehab ahead of Liverpool FC tie

Rasmus Hojlund has arrived at Carrington to continue his rehabilitation from a muscle injury as he bids to be fit to face Liverpool in this weekend's FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford.

The Denmark striker has missed the last four games through injury and was initially ruled out for around three weeks, which would take him up to this weekend. His international manager Kasper Hjulmand said Hojlund would play against Liverpool this weekend when he spoke to the media on Tuesday.

But the 21-year-old has yet to return to full training at Carrington and he arrived ahead of his teammates on Wednesday, with an afternoon session scheduled as preparations continue for the meeting with Jurgen Klopp's side. Hojlund will continue with his rehabilitation work and it remains to be seen if he will be fit enough to take part in training with the rest of the squad later today.

Erik ten Hag will be hoping his £72million striker will be fit for the match, having seen injury halt the momentum he was building. After a difficult start to life at Old Trafford, Hojlund has eight goals in his last eight games and had scored in six successive matches until picking up a training ground injury.

In his absence, United have won twice and lost twice and scored just five goals in four games, with two of them from the penalty spot in the weekend win against Everton.

Hojlund has been included in Denmark's squad for friendlies against Switzerland and the Faroe Islands this month, but his participation is dependant on him playing this weekend, something his international boss expects to
