Rangers miss out on Glen Kamara promotion windfall as Leeds United star suffers Wembley heartache

Rangers have MISSED OUT on a windfall as part of Glen Kamara's move to Leeds after their English Championship play-off heartbreak.

The midfielder - who started the 1-0 defeat to Southampton at Wembley - made the move from Ibrox to Elland Road last summer in a £5million transfer and as part of that deal a clause was inserted that would see them entitled to a bonus payment if Leeds returned to the riches of England's top flight at the first time of asking.

However, the payment in the region of £500k, will not be heading to Ibrox in what would have been a welcomed boost to the summer transfer kitty for Philippe Clement, who is set for a big rebuild. The likes of John Lundstram, Kemar Roofe and Borna Barisic are all expected to leave as free agents while No2 Robby McCrorie is likely to exit in search of first-team football, with Aberdeen keen on the stopper as exclusively revealed by Record Sport. More fringe men, those not favoured and players on loan like Abdallah Sima will also move on with a host of arrivals heading in the door in a busy couple of months ahead.

The Light Blues kicked off their transfer activity with the capture of full-back Jefte on the eve of their Scottish Cup Final defeat to Celtic at Hampden. Mohamed Diomande's loan becomes a permanent switch while Liam Kelly is believed to be on the verge of a return on a free. That is just the start of what will be a busy summer as the Belgian bids to put together a squad that can end Celtic's title dominance while also qualify for the newly revamped Champions League with two qualifying rounds to negotiate.
