Rangers legend battling cancer as Ibrox club confirm treatment underway

Rangers have confirmed former goalkeeper Andy Goram is undergoing treatment for cancer.

The Cambuslang Rangers coach, nicknamed 'The Goalie' during his playing career, was an integral figure in their Nine In A Row run between 1991 and 1998.

He has most recently helped Camby to their West of Scotland Football League Conference B title win alongside co-bosses Billy Campbell and Paul McColl.

While with the Ibrox club, Goram won five league titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups.

The 58-year-old also featured for Oldham, Hibs, Sheffield United, Motherwell and Manchester United, among others.

A statement from Rangers reads: "Rangers can confirm our legendary goalkeeper, Andy Goram, is undergoing treatment for cancer in a local hospital.

"Club officials are in regular contact with Andy and his family.

"The family have asked for privacy at this time. Everyone at Rangers wishes “The Goalie” well at this difficult time."
