Rangers land Ross Wilson 'fee' as Nottingham Forest pay to secure incoming recruitment chief

Rangers are set to land a fee for outgoing sporting director Ross Wilson.

The 39-year-old has reportedly agreed terms on a switch to Nottingham Forest, where he will take on a similar but wider ranging role to the one he has occupied at Ibrox for the last three-and-a-half years. The Rangers Review state the Govan club are set to receive cash in exchange for Wilson, which could help boost Michael Beale’s transfer funds this summer as he sets about revamping his Rangers squad.

Despite being on the end of some stringing criticism from his own fans this season, Wilson remains highly regarded in England. His work at Huddersfield, Watford and Southampton was impressive enough to persuade Rangers that he should oversee their attempts to wrestle the Premiership title back from a dominant Celtic, a feat which was achieved with Steven Gerrard at the helm in 2021 as they stopped Ten-In-A-Row.

But just one Scottish Cup has been added since then, with Wilson’s recruitment called into question. Forest however, are keen to utilise his skills as they not only attempt to stay in the English premier League, but organise themselves in a way that will help them remain there for the foreseeable future, whether manager Steve Cooper keeps his job or not.
