Stewart Robertson leaves Rangers in board shake up as James Bisgrove steps into CEO role at Ibrox

Rangers have announced Stewart Robertson will leave at the end of July this year with James Bisgrove stepping into the CEO position as change at the top of the marble staircase continues.

The managing director is the latest member of the Ibrox hierarchy to exit the club after chairman Douglas Park stepped down to be replaced by John Bennett before sporting director Ross Wilson left for Nottingham Forest. Recently, Robertson has been the target of fan protests and banners demanding his exit as was Wilson.

This announcement brings an end to the former Motherwell director's almost eight years at Rangers after he arrived at the Glasgow giants in 2015. During his time, the club have made their way out of the Championship and won the Premiership in 2021, on top of a Scottish Cup win and run to the Europa League Final. Rangers chairman Bennett saidd: “In thanking Stewart for his tireless work and commitment to the club over the past eight years, the board and I wish him every success in his new project.

“The board is delighted to appoint James as the new CEO of Rangers. Having transformed the club’s commercial operations, James has demonstrated outstanding credentials in the key areas of commercial delivery, talent development and leadership. He is ideally positioned to drive the step change in energy and restructuring that is now under way.”
