Rangers injury tracker as Philippe Clement pledges training ground overhaul following update on 9 key stars

Philippe Clement says he’s planning a major overhaul of Rangers’ training regime after complaining the squad he inherited from Michael Beale is carrying too many crocked stars.

The new Ibrox gaffer is hoping to welcome Todd Cantwell, Ryan Jack, Danilo and Kemar Roofe back from lay-offs as he takes charge of the Light Blues for the first time at home to Hibs today. But the Belgian admits it’s unlikely any of them are ready to last the 90 minutes against Nick Montgomery’s side.

And with Tom Lawrence, Rabbi Matondo, Kieran Dowell and Zak Lovelace still sidelined - as well as Jose Ciffunetes, who has also returned from Ecuador duty carrying a knock - Clement says changes are required after admitting fitness levels aren’t up the standards he desires. The former Genk, Brugge and Monaco gaffer said: “I have a list here of all the players who are not available for 90 minutes. It’s too much. You’re not happy like that as a manager because you want all the players fit. So it’s part of my job to keep everybody fit as much as possible. It’s a contact sport. Things can happen.

“But in all the places I worked there were not many injuries and availability was above 90 per cent. That’s also one of the things we want to improve.

“I cannot go too much into detail [about changes to training], but in the way we’re going to train, the length of the training, what we do in the training, what the staff are doing. There are lot of things. I’m not saying that [the way the players trained before has had an effect on their physical shape] because I was not here – and I don’t care to be honest.
