Rangers hero in shock Celtic claim as he casts doubt over Brendan Rodgers’ loyalty

Ally McCoist has casted doubt over Brendan Rodgers' long-term future at Celtic.

The Hoops boss – fresh from bagging a Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup Double – returned to the club last year to replace Ange Postecoglou after his move to Tottenham for a second stint in the Parkhead hotseat. His first departure was met with fury from the Celtic faithful as he left mid-season to take up the top job at Leicester City.

His return to the club last summer came with mixed emotions, with many supporters not ready to forgive the 51-year-old over the way he left first time around. He's started to repair those relationships with a successful season on the park and another Champions League adventure heading for Glasgow's east end next season. However, Rangers hero McCoist would NOT be shocked if Rodgers left for a return to English football once again in the future as he responded to a message from a listener who believes the Irishman is awaiting an opening and biding his time at the Scottish champions.

McCoist told talkSPORT: "There is an element of me that thinks Brendan will want to move on again. I genuinely believe that. Of course he's had a very successful season winning a league and cup double. Goes without saying. And his CV once again is back up there.

"We've seen in recent years, Scottish teams participating at the very, very top level and it is bordering on impossible for them to compete in the Champions League. And I just think Celtic would be the exact same again next year.

"I know for a fact there is still an element of some of the Celtic support – no matter what Brendan does – will not be happy with him back at Celtic for the way they see the way he left in the first place. For me, I think Alistair
