Rangers goal machine set to sign 'big' deal before Aston Villa transfer
Rangers starlet Rory Wilson is reportedly poised to sign a 'big contract' with Adidas ahead of a potential move away from Ibrox.
Aston Villa are in the driving seat to complete a move for the 16 year-old and BirminghmLive's colleagues in Scotland at the Daily Record report that Wilson is set to ink terms with the German sportswear giant. Wilson has not yet signed the first professional contract of his career but a six-figure boot deal has reportedly been agreed with Adidas to wear their boots and clothing for four-and-a-half years.
It is reported that Adidas had to stave off competition from rival brands to sign Wilson, who has recently joined the CAA Base player agency. CAA Base have Raphael Varane and Son Heung-min of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur among their client list.
Wilson is seen as one of the hottest young prospects in Scotland and netted his latest goal for Rangers' Under-18s in a 1-0 defeat of Glasgow rivals Celtic over the weekend. He also bagged in a Scottish Youth Cup final success against Hearts the weekend before and Rangers are said to be eager to keep him at Ibrox.
However Wilson looks set to move on and become the latest top young talent to sign for Villa, who will have to pay a compensation fee for the player. It was reported in the national press at the end of March that Villa were close to beating Premier League rivals Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool to Wilson, who has scored more than 40 goals this season at club level.
