Rangers, Celtic and Aberdeen clashes are what you dream of, says Motherwell's Joe Efford

Joe Efford says a triple-header that sees Motherwell host Rangers, Celtic and Aberdeen in a week is the stuff that dreams are made of.

The American winger is keen to test himself when Giovanni van Bronckhorst brings his side - still smarting from last night's 7-1 annihilation by Liverpool in the Champions League - to Fir Park for a lunchtime kick-off on Sunday, with Celtic arriving in the Premier Sports Cup quarter-final on Wednesday.

That seven-day period also sees Aberdeen make the trip south to Lanarkshire on October 22, which will see VAR used for the first time in a game involving the Steelmen.

Efford, 26, says those are the games he relishes pitting himself up against and is looking forward to a tough run.

But Efford admits he hoped Motherwell would take something from their clash at Hibs into those games, rather than a 1-0 defeat.

He said: “We have Rangers next so that [Hibs] was a game we were looking to take something into.

“Those are the games you relish. You dream about playing against these clubs and you want to do your best against them.

“For me, personally, I try to approach each game the same, to go and win.

"If it’s a win or it’s a point for us then it’s good.

“I hope to start scoring, to be dangerous in attack and to start scoring more goals.”
