Rangers boss Philippe Clement dismisses Ruben Amorim noise ahead of Man United Europa League clash
Rangers manager Philippe Clement has dismissed the ongoing turmoil at Manchester United as he prepares to give Ruben Amorim a new challenge in the Europa League.
Despite facing their own issues this season, including a period of just two wins in eight games over the festive period, Rangers are heading to Old Trafford on a three-match winning streak.
Meanwhile, United are languishing in 13th place in the Premier League, having secured only four victories in their last 12 matches. This led Amorim to label them as "the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United", although he later retracted these comments.
However, Clement remains unfazed by the media frenzy surrounding United, stating that his focus is solely on ending Rangers' lengthy drought for an away win against an English side in Europe - their last was a 2-1 Champions League qualifying victory over Leeds in 1992 - and securing their first triumph over United.
"Of course we know what to expect," the Belgian said.
"The most important thing for my group is to be focused on ourselves and not all the noise around them. It’s about a football game. We need to show our qualities. We need to get the best out of everybody.
"It’s not about all the noise around us. It’s about what we do on the pitch with and without a ball. And that the team is doing better and better, the last couple of months, that’s what we need to show tomorrow, to write history here."
During his own press conference, Amorim had expressed empathy for Clement's earlier predicament, saying he could "feel the pain" of the Rangers manager who was under pressure before receiving the board's support.
