Rangers and Celtic alliance detailed as Ibrox starlet explains friendship with Hoops player

Rangers loanee Josh McPake says he's loving life in League Two with Tranmere Rovers - and there's even been time for friendship with a Celtic rival.

The youngster from Coatbridge scored his first goal for Micky Mellon's side last Saturday but they succumbed to a 3-2 defeat at Sixfields.

While still in the promotion hunt, they now sit in League Two's final promotion play-off spot after four defeats in their last five matches.

McPake has played nine times and has linked up with promising Celtic goalkeeper Ross Doohan while at Prenton Park.

They might be rivals when they cross back into SPFL territory upon their loan expiries this summer, but the Coatbridge youngster says a familiar face has been a bonus to a fruitful loan spell.

He told Tranmere's YouTube channel: "It's alright to be fair. I knew Ross before he came here as he's from Glasgow and I knew a lot of his friends. Me and Ross get on well!

"I have been loving it so far. It has been a learning curve. We went on a good run and then we come off it. There's been dips in form.

"So for me on a personal note, that's all I can ask for. That's why I am sent out on loan. It's to learn my trade and to share the changing room with experienced boys.

"I have really, really enjoyed my time here. We have more than enough games to put things right."
