Rangers already holding discussions about summer targets at Ibrox

Rangers have ‘already been speaking about potential targets’ as Giovanni van Bronckhorst looks to bolster his Ibrox squad in the summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Gers may not be in the driving seat when it comes to fighting for the Scottish Premiership title, but it appears they are preparing to be busy attracting fresh faces ahead of next season.

Having been appointed as Rangers’ manager last November, van Bronckhorst could look to put his own stamp on the squad heading into his first full campaign at the helm.

According to the Northern Echo, the Dutchman is hoping to bolster his attacking options by signing Sunderland frontman Ross Stewart.

The report suggests Norwich City and Swansea City also hold an interest in the 25-year-old, who is closing in on 30 goal contributions this season and will enter the final 12 months of his deal at the Stadium of Light in the summer.

Meanwhile, German media outlet Frankfurter Rundschau have claimed Rangers have expressed an interest in Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.

It is understood that van Bronckhorst is keen to beat Hamburg, who currently ply their trade in the second tier of German football, to the 20-year-old’s signature.

Jones understands that Rangers have been keen to get onto the front-foot when it comes to identifying potential acquisitions ahead of the summer window.
