Ramsgate manager Ady Pennock says future’s bright for ex-Dartford midfielder Jacob Bland as pair reunited at Southwood
Ramsgate boss Ady Pennock was delighted to bring in midfielder Jacob Bland.
The 21-year-old made the move after being released by Pennock’s former club Dartford.
The ex-Southend and Chelmsford midfielder made a big impression at Princes Park and Pennock’s happy to get him on board.
“I’m really pleased because I think he’s got a really good career in front of him,” said the Rams manager.
“He’s still a young man, he’s only 21. He came to us last season, he wasn’t fit and I got him out on loan straight away for a month, and when he came back we put him straight in the team and he didn’t look back.
“He had a horrendous broken nose against Potters Bar but he was one of the shining young lads last season.
“I think he’s got a really big career in front of him because he wants to learn all the time. He can play in numerous positions in midfield, he’s got great movement going forward, he gets in the box at good times, and he can sit in front of the back four, so I think he’s got everything.”
Bland has plenty of potential and with development still ahead of him, Pennock reckons the player’s attitude will determine how far he goes in the game.
“I think it’ll be up to him,” added Pennock. “I really do think he’s got all the tools to be a really good footballer.
“He’s another young lad I’d like to take under my wing and hopefully produce him to play higher, either with us or at other clubs.
“He became a man last season. In some games he was excellent, head and shoulders above the majority of the players on the pitch.
“That’s the only thing that needs to come into his games is the consistency, which I thought as the season went on that was happening.
“We saw the kind of person he is as well, he’s got no fear. He broke his nose on the
