Ralf Rangnick gives Paul Pogba injury update and responds to criticism of Manchester United players vs Liverpool

Paul Pogba could miss Manchester United's next two games against Arsenal and Chelsea, according to interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

Pogba received treatment while Liverpool players celebrated Luis Diaz's fifth-minute opening goal in their 4-0 thrashing of United and Pogba came off on 10 minutes.

The 29-year-old is out of contract on June 30 and could conceivably have played for the club for the last time after more supporters turned against Pogba in the away section at Anfield.

"He seems to have problems with his calf, quite similar to Fred," Rangnick said. "Right now I don’t think he will be available for the next two games."

Rangnick suggested United could sign up to 10 players as part of their squad rebuild in the summer, with Pogba one of six players out of contract and almost certain to leave.

Many observers took a dim view of Pogba hobbling off early at an unhappy hunting ground where he was sent off on his first appearance as an 18-year-old in the 2011 FA Youth Cup final.

Pogba's withdrawal left Nemanja Matic as United's only fully fit central midfielder and the Serb announced last week he will leave at the end of the season. Rangnick still believes the players at United are committed.

"I don’t think so, to be honest, I don't think they have mentally checked out," he added. "It is just a different level. [Liverpool] have better players than we have if you look at it in total. And this was really reflected by the result today.

"There will be a rebuild for sure, but right now that doesn't help us because we still have another five games to play. There has to be a rebuild. For me, it was clear even when I came in in December,
