Raging Neil Warnock pins Aberdeen FC collapse on a 'scandal' as he reveals the gripe he aired to Nick Walsh

Distraught Neil Warnock branded VAR a scandal after Aberdeen suffered a late collapse against St Mirren.

The Pittodrie stand-in gaffer declared the Dons display the best he’d seen since arriving in Scotland. But he blasted the VAR call to award St Mirren a stoppage time penalty for the leveller – before the even later winner. Warnock – who is still without a Premiership win – said: “VAR is a disgrace. How can you wait on a freezing afternoon for four or five minutes?

“I thought he had given a free kick to us at first when he gave it. I still think they have to get people who have played the game in VAR. I asked him (ref Nick Walsh) do you realise what it is like when you have put that much effort in to be stood around for five minutes. My lads had cramp and three or four of them were struggling.

“One of them, Richard (Jensen) who only came in this morning because we lost Jack (Milne) this morning, Richard couldn’t move. With five minutes to go he said I can’t move. And he is marking the lad. You shouldn’t be standing about for five minutes on a bloody freezing afternoon for VAR. It’s scandalous.”

Warnock admitted he was gutted but did see signs of fight for the run in – with Aberdeen hovering just above the drop zone after 10 league games without a win.

It was another kick in the teeth but he’s still up for the fight and said: “I’ve thought a few things like that over the years. But you have to keep going.

“The penalty knocked their block and it was disappointing to concede again after all that effort. I could never see them scoring if I’m honest. I thought it was the first time that we played like one of my teams, if I’m honest. There’s a backline there. I was never worried today. They won their own battles, we didn’t
