Neil Warnock swerves Aberdeen FC sack 'hypothetical' as he tells struggling stars why they are LUCKY

Under-fire Neil Warnock insists he is remaining "positive" that he can turn things around at Aberdeen going into the Scottish Cup clash with Kilmarnock.

After the arrival of the veteran boss at Pittodrie, things have went from bad to worse with the Englishman yet to pick up a win in the Premiership - leaving the Dons plummeting down the table and hovering just four points ahead of Ross County in the relegation play-off spot. Bookmakers have made Warnock odds-on to be the next boss sacked in the Scottish top flight - while former Celtic and Hibs boss Neil Lennon has openly stated he has an interest in stepping into the hot seat now after previous talks with the club.

Former Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes will take his Killie side to the Granite City with the club on course for a top six finish - and hopes high that the Rugby Park men can enjoy a date at Hampden. But Warnock remains upbeat despite coming off the back of a late collapse against St Mirren - which saw the Dons concede two stoppage time goals in the loss.

Asked about the prospect of being shown the door at Pittodrie if the Ayrshire side progress in the Scottish Cup, he responded: "It is hypothetical really. I think you have got to ask me that if and when it happens.

"At the moment all I am concentrating on is trying to be positive, to try and get a result against Kilmarnock on Saturday. You have just got to get on with it now.

"Feeling sorry for yourselves, I think you do that for 24 hours but we are in a great job. You have got to realise how lucky we are in the modern day where so many people are out of work.

"Yes, we are not doing well at the minute. Confidence is a bit low, but hey-ho you know one good result can turn that so let's get on with it."
