Barnsley experienced a mixed amount of success in the Football League in the 2010s.

The Tykes began the decade in the second-tier but were eventually relegated from this division in 2014.

Under the guidance of Paul Heckingbottom, Barnsley secured promotion back to the Championship via the play-offs in 2016.

Barnsley’s stay in the second-tier proved to be relatively short as they were relegated again in 2018 before achieving an immediate return to this division during the following campaign.
