Sheffield United making summer transfer progress as Blades near deals for two players

Sheffield United managed to secure a Championship play-off spot during the 2021/22 campaign, with Paul Heckingbottom almost immediately succeeding after taking charge of the Blades late on in 2021.

The Yorkshire club were eventually edged out of the second-tier play-offs via penalties, with their opponents Nottingham Forest going on to win at Wembley.

Targeting a quick start to the summer transfer window, a report from Yorkshire Live has claimed that the Blades are closing in on two new additions.

The report states that Sheffield United have made an offer with a fee attached for one of these players, whilst the other one would arrive as a free agent.

Senior figures at the club are aligned in their desire to complete transfer business as early as possible this season, to allow Heckingbottom the best possible opportunity to start the campaign on the front foot.

The verdict

Whilst not detailing who the duo are, or what part of the pitch the Blades are targeting, this will come as a big boost for Sheffield United, who struggled at the start of last season, with late arrivals playing a sizeable part in that.

Under Heckingbottom, Sheffield United will once again be ambitious, with their form under the 44-year-old giving Blades fans every right to dream.

This is Heckingbottom’s first summer in charge at Bramall Lane, with it proving to be an exciting time because of that.

Completing transfer business early, and then spending a large chunk of the summer bedding in the new arrivals will give Sheffield United the best possible chance of succeeding next year.
