Queen of the South boss left questioning his side's luck after Cove Rangers defeat

Cove Rangers leapfrogged Queen of the South to pile more pressure on manager Marvin Bartley.

The Doonhamers have won just one of their six home games this season and Rumarn Burrell’s late goal was the difference between the two sides on Saturday as Queens suffered another late defeat.

The results at Palmerston haven’t been lost on Bartley and he says it’s something they have to address.

However, this latest setback left the boss questioning their luck and wondering how they haven’t scored the chances they created.

He said: “The home results haven’t been good enough. We need to create a fortress and we’re just not managing to do that at this moment in time. But Saturday was probably the closest we’ve come to really deserving a win outwith what we have done here.

“I don’t know how we haven’t scored, with the performance and chances we created we have to do better. Their goal sums things up for us at the moment, it hits off someone’s back and not just drops to Burrell, it hits a shin and goes off at an angle, it’s a tough one to take. I don’t think we deserved to lose, but we have to score goals to win, and we didn’t do that.”

The manager doesn’t believe it’s a mental issue with the squad despite the run of home defeats and the bad habit of conceding late on. He said: “Nobody has said it’s a mental thing, we are footballers, you can’t let it affect you.

“Last season, possibly yes because of the pitch but not this season, we have to put our finger on what it is. It is tough as we know the results haven’t been good enough and that stops with me.
