'There's a spark in this side' - Former midfielder makes Man City vs Liverpool FC prediction

Former Manchester City and Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann cannot see Jurgen Klopp's side losing at the Etihad Stadium after the international break.

Over the past few years, the Blues have been embroiled in a fierce rivalry with the Merseyside club in the Premier League. City have been the standout team in English football for some time now but the Reds have pushed them close in the title race.

Heading into the final international break of the year, City sit just one point above second-place Liverpool having drawn 4-4 with Chelsea at the weekend. In less than two weeks' time, Pep Guardiola's team will welcome their challengers to Manchester and according to Hamann, the visitors are in the best position to come away with a positive result.

Speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest Euro 2024 odds, Hamann explained: "Liverpool vs Manchester City is a while away, and we'll have to see how the fixtures leading up to the game go. The fixture is arguably the biggest game in the Premier League as it's between the two most successful sides of the last few seasons.

"We'll also need to see who's available - City might have a few more options than Liverpool, but Liverpool have more players available at the moment. If that's the case, then I fancy Liverpool to not get beat.

"City have been the benchmark over the years, but their dominance will end at some stage, even if that's hard to see at the moment. As I said, there's a spark in this Liverpool side that hasn't been there for the last one or two years."
