Punjab United boss Chipie Sian avoiding Wembley hype ahead of FA Vase semi-final second leg against Cockfosters
Punjab United are 90 minutes away from Wembley - but boss Chipie Sian won’t be talking to his players about it.
The Punjab manager and chairman knows they’re in touching distance of the big prize if they can edge past Cockfosters in their FA Vase semi-final second leg this Saturday.
The teams drew 1-1 in Barnet last weekend but, ahead of the biggest game in the club’s history, Sian insisted he’s not looking too far ahead.
“I never talk about Wembley in my team talk,” stated Sian. “I’ve not talked about it once since we’ve played in the FA Vase this season.
“I don’t talk about it as it’s another game. I’ll set my stall out this Saturday and tell the players what I want from them.
“I’ll just tell them it’s another game, that you’ve got to leave everything on the pitch. That’s all I ask them to do.
“When they do that, like they did last weekend, then I think we’ll be great.”
There promises to be a record-breaking crowd at Punjab’s Elite Venue ground in Dunkirk Close, Gravesend.
With Ebbsfleet playing on Good Friday, Punjab will pick up supporters from across Gravesham and beyond.
“Ebbsfleet have been supportive of us, as have a lot of teams across Kent,” added Sian.
“It’s amazing to see the love we’ve been given and I think we’ll get a lot of support on Saturday.
“We’re a friendly, family club. I hope people come out and support because if we can pack the ground, it will give the boys a massive boost.
“We had 655 in the quarter-final against Downton so can we push 800? It’d be amazing, wouldn’t it, for Gravesham.
“As for the rest? You never know. If the luck goes our way and we get through, you’ll see a party on that pitch after - it’ll be unbelievable.
