PSV injury latest ahead of Leicester City clash as one player returns and six miss out
Leicester City travel to the Netherlands this week as they look to get past PSV Eindhoven in the Europa Conference League quarter-final.
After a 0-0 draw in the first leg at the King Power Stadium, it is all to play for in the second leg. City were unable to get past a more defensively set-up PSV meaning that they will have to win the game at the Philips Stadium to play either Bodo/Glimt or AS Roma in the semi-final of the competition.
City are a team who have had their fair share of injury problems so far this season. It’s a picture that is now looking better with Wesley Fofana, Jonny Evans and Timothy Castagne all expected to return to the starting lineup after being rested vs Crystal Palace.
PSV manager Roger Schmidt also made some changes for their game at the weekend, but that didn’t stop them from suffering an injury concern. England U21 winger looks to be ruled out of the game against City.
"Normally that doesn't go away in a day when you get out of a match, so we think it will be difficult towards Leicester City and Ajax," Schmidt said of the winger . “If you look at how hard he has worked, it is very sour. He played well against Leicester. It is very unfortunate for him and for us. The medical staff is doing everything they can.”
There was also a concern over centre-back , but Schmidt has brushed away any worries by saying the problem wasn’t serious. The PSV boss will, though, be able to welcome back one player.
Midfielder sat out the first leg due to serving a one-game suspension after an accumulation of yellow cards. The 26-year-old will be allowed to feature in Thursday’s second leg after returning to the team at the weekend.
