PSV 1 Rangers 0 as Dutch given advantage AGAIN with fixture help ahead of Champions League showdown

The Dutch FA have moved swiftly to give PSV Eindhoven a helping hand in their bid to reach the Champions League group stage by handing them extra time to prepare for the decisive second leg of their play-off clash with Rangers.

Just as they did last season, the Eredivise side’s which was sandwiched between both legs of the Rangers tie has been postponed – to give manager Peter Bosz the best possible preparation to ensure they qualify for the lucrative group stage of UEFA’s premier competition.

PSV were due to host Go Ahead Eagles in the Philips Stadium on Saturday, August 26 but the game has instead been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 27 after they took the KNVB up on their offer. Rangers face the lengthy trip north to take on Ross County on August 26 for a lunchtime kick off. It means Bosz and his side will have a full eight days to prepare for the second leg of their clash with Rangers. They travel to Vitesse Arnhem this Saturday before a trip to Ibrox Stadium next Tuesday and then won’t be in action again until the visit of Rangers the following Wednesday.

Last season, PSV were due to face Volendam in the domestic fixture prior to their second leg against Rangers but it was postponed. Then Light Blues boss Giovannni van Bronckhorst faced a tough trip to Easter Road where they slipped up in a bruising encounter that saw two men sent off. However, it didn’t hamper them on that occasion as they went on to win in Eindhoven days later.
