"Pretty inevitable" - Journalist drops major Harry Kane claim at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is certain to attract interest from suitors when the transfer window reopens in the summer, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Kane came through the ranks with the north London club and has gone on to establish himself as one of the leading marksmen in Premier League history, resulting in question marks over whether Spurs will be able to hold onto him for the long-term.

Kane and team-mate Heung-min Son made history in Spurs’ 4-0 win over Leeds United at the weekend as they combined for a record 37th Premier League goal.

The 28-year-old Kane’s assist for Son saw them move clear of former Chelsea duo Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba in the list of top goal combinations in the competition.

It came after The Athletic journalist David Ornstein revealed Tottenham will not initiate talks with Kane over a new contract.

The report suggests the 67-cap England international rejected the offer of a lucrative deal last year and Kane wants to assess the club’s progress before making a final decision over whether he wants to remain with his current employers.

Kane, who has scored 239 goals over the course of his Spurs career, still has more than two years remaining on his £200,000-per-week contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

O’Rourke is in no doubt that Kane, who is valued at £90million by Transfermarkt, will be the subject of plenty of interest when the transfer window reopens at the start of July.

The journalist feels the Spurs man is among the best footballers around the globe and, as a result, he is sure to have plenty of admirers.
