Man Utd planning bid to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham

Manchester United are planning a move for Tottenham striker Harry Kane this summer.

The England captain pushed to leave Spurs before the start of this season and was desperate to join Manchester City.

However, the Premier League champions failed to meet Spurs’ £140 million asking price and Kane ended up remaining in north London.

City are still targeted a new striker but the Daily Mirror report that they have made Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland their top choice for this summer.

The report claims that United are aware of the competition they face for Haaland and are now turning their attention to Kane ahead of the summer window.

The move could represent an opportunity for Kane to link back up with his former manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is the frontrunner to replace Ralf Rangnick at the end of the season.

Speaking this week, Kane praised the impact Antonio Conte has made at Spurs and insisted his only focus was securing a fourth-placed finish in the Premier League.

‘I’m the first to look at my own standards,’ Kane told Sky Sports.

‘In the Premier League, towards the first few months or so I wasn’t at the standard that I was always reaching.

‘It was no time to panic or sulk, it was a time to work hard and since Antonio’s come in, we’ve had a good understanding with each other. As a player, if you’re improving under a coach, that’s the most important thing.

‘It’s when you’re there and not sure where you’re going and where the club’s going and that’s the hardest part as a player. I definitely feel like I’m improving and the team is with Antonio. That motivates you to be even better. Hopefully we can end the season and give the top four a real go.
