Premier League set for fan protests over ticket prices amid Man United and Man City decisions

The Football Supporters' Association (FSA) is spearheading a "Stop Exploiting Loyalty" campaign as ticket prices skyrocket in the Premier League.

Fan groups from various clubs are gearing up to protest at stadiums over the forthcoming two weekends, which have been earmarked as designated matchdays. Both Manchester United and Manchester City increased their lowest-priced season tickets ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

City introduced a 10.4% rise for the lowest-priced season ticket at the Etihad Stadium this term. This saw the previous lowest price of £385 increase to £425 for adults. United also increased their ticket prices for the current Premier League campaign, with a 5% increase from £551 to £579 for the lowest-priced adult season ticket at Old Trafford.

Even though protests are scheduled to take place in the weeks ahead, fans of some Premier League clubs have already attempted to make their voices heard. Supporters of Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham staged a protest over the increase in ticket prices during the clash between the two clubs at the London Stadium last Saturday.

Data collated by the FSA's associated fan groups reveals an average rise in ticket costs by 7%, although certain hikes – particularly concessionary tickets – are markedly higher. FSA chairman Tom Greatrex
