Popular Manchester restaurant announce truly 'innovative and unique' pizza - and they need your help

A popular Manchester restaurant known for serving ‘extra, extra large’ pizzas has launched a competition for diners to name an upcoming addition to their menu.

Nell’s, on Minshull Street in the city centre’s Kampus neighbourhood, serves a range of freshly-made New York-style pizzas in sharable 14” and 22” sizes. The pizzeria has announced that it will soon be adding a special BBQ chicken pizza to its menu but first, it needs help in naming it.

On social media, the restaurant has asked for suggestions to name the new addition, which will join the likes of already beloved classics including Do You 'Roni Honey?, 'Shroom With A View, and Original Sausage Material. Alongside their own restaurant at Kampus, Nell's pizza is also served at Common in the Northern Quarter and The Beagle in Chorlton.

Whoever comes up with the chosen name will earn themselves a £100 gift card to spend at Nell’s and a ‘BBQ sauce goodybag’, alongside eternal notoriety in the world of pizza.

In a post on Instagram, Nell’s co-founder Jonny Heyes said: “Just want to talk to you quickly about our new, 100% original idea that we’ve come up with in our pizza lab right here, which is combining pizza and barbeque chicken. It’s going to be a barbeque chicken pizza. Completely innovative and unique.

“We need a name. We need some help from you on that and there’s going to be a fabulous prize to the winner. It’s got to be funny, it’s got to work for us in our naming scheme.”

Despite warning that the pizza could end up being named Pizza McPizzaface, in a nod to the legend that was Boaty McBoatface, it turns out that people have been keen to deliver some unique and debatably funny names
