Police reassure parents following reports of woman carrying knife near primary school
Police have moved to reassure the public following reports of a woman carrying a knife near to a primary school.
Officers said they received a 999 call about a female 'potentially in possession of a knife' in Stoneclough, Bolton, this afternoon (Thursday, January 25). After finding the woman and carrying out a stop and search, she was found not to have a blade.
In a post on the GMP Bolton South Facebook page, officers said they were 'aware of a number of posts on community groups around this female being in possession of a knife'.

They said: "Officers attended a 999 call In Stoneclough this afternoon, reporting that a female was near to a primary school potentially in possession of a knife. Your local neighbourhood officers attended and we subsequently located this female.
"A stop search was conducted of her person and we can confirm at this stage she has not been in possession of a knife and this post is to reassure the local community of that fact.
"We are aware of a number of posts on community groups around this female being in possession of a knife and we would kindly request that any posts pertaining to this female on these groups be removed.
"Many thanks for your co operation."
