Police issue update following man's arrest after smash on major road

A man who was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a collision on a major Tameside road has been released on bail, police have said.

Police rushed to a two-car collision on Manchester Road in Ashton-under-Lyne around 3.50pm on Saturday (August 10). No serious injuries were reported, but a man was taken into custody on suspicion of dangerous driving.

The arrested man has now been bailed as the Crown Prosecution Service make a decision on whether or not the man will be charged with the offence.

The incident is affected public transport in the area as accident investigation enquiries got underway. Stagecoach announced via Twitter that buses to Ashton had been rerouted via The Snipe and Lord Sheldon Way.
