Police hunt 'group of men armed with weapons' in attempted burglary probe

A ‘group of men armed with weapons’ attempted to force their way inside a home in Cheshire on Monday evening.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward following the incident, which took place at 9pm on July 17. It took place on Halliday Close, in Birchwood, Warrington.

Cheshire Police have since confirmed they were called to reports of a burglary at the address, but the group of men fled the scene by the time cops arrived. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and officers are urging members of the public with information which could aid the investigation to get in touch, with the incident happening less than five miles from Salford.

“Enquiries in relation to this incident are in the early stages and we are now appealing for anyone with information, CCTV, or dashcam footage to contact us,” Detective Sergeant Christopher Sheffield said. “The same goes for anyone who was in the area at the time and noticed anything suspicious.”
