Plymouth Argyle 1-2 Swansea City: Swans four unbeaten with victory at Home Park
They might have clocked up the miles recently, but Swansea City look to be enjoying themselves out on the road at the moment.
A thoroughly deserved success at struggling Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night means the Swans have now lost just once in their last six away games in the Championship, a foundation that surely speaks volumes about the growth of this side in recent weeks.
This win in particular was one awash with good signs ahead of the busy festive schedule, although clearly Plymouth’s late surge ensured it wasn’t as comfortable as it probably should have been.
Jay Fulton’s first goal for over a year just handed Swansea the lead just before the interval, after Mustapha Bundu drove a low effort onto the post early on in the first half.
Liam Cullen then continued his red hot run of form by sliding in to add a second on the hour-mark, before Bundu bundled home 10 minutes from time to set up a nervy finish.
However, the Swans held on to ease their way over the line in Devon. The win here pushing them up to 9th ahead of the visit of Sunderland this weekend.
The Swans didn’t create as much as they did at Kenilworth Road, but the level of control shown in midfield, and indeed the ruthlessness in the final third, will have made this a really pleasing evening for Luke Williams, and indeed the travelling Jack Army.
Swansea set the tone for this success with a flurry of opportunities during the opening 15 minutes here.
Skipper Matt Grimes, perhaps buoyed by his cracking finish at Luton over the weekend, tested his luck after just a minute, but fired high and wide. Josh Key’s effort was deflected away, while Fulton, one of three changes from that draw at Kenilworth Road, couldn’t quite connect with Josh Tymon’s near-post
