PlayStation: Sony plans to launch half of PC and mobile games by 2025

Sony is looking to onboard new PC and mobile players as the company wishes to release half of its annual games on PC and mobile by 2025, according to reports.

PlayStation first party games are one of the major income sources for Sony, apart from console releases. A substantial chunk of money is poured into making these games and Sony usually wants players to buy the console to play the game.

However, this has slightly changed in recent years, as more and more PlayStation first party titles are being made available to PC. The newest example of this is God of War, which was released a few months earlier this year. 

Now, the Japanese gaming giants are looking to focus heavily on launching their yearly games on PC and mobile as the president of the PlayStation business has said the business anticipates bringing almost half of its annual releases to both platforms by the year 2025. 

Sony intending to bring its games to different platforms is something which we have been seeing for the past couple of years now and it looks as if the company is finally leaning completely towards it.

As per VGC, SIE president Jim Ryan on Thursday said, “PlayStation Studios historically has executed wonderfully in the delivery of a strong portfolio of narrative rich, graphically beautiful single-player games, but it’s certainly the case that we have restricted ourselves to a rather narrow portion of the gaming market.” 

He also mentioned that increasing the availability of games to a larger set of platforms and managing to launch at least 12 live service games in the forthcoming years, could be “transformational to our business”.
