Champions League: Liverpool fans lose huge amount after buying fake final tickets

Liverpool fans across the world have been attempting to obtain a ticket for the Champions League final in Paris on Saturday evening.

Some have been successful in their attempts while others have been left empty-handed.

Ray Mcdonald and 18 of his friends were desperate to watch their side play in person at Stade de France.

The group of nineteen decided to purchase tickets from a ticket tout at £1,000-per-head.

Mcdonald had previously used the ticket tout six times this season and had not had any problems.

However, upon receiving the tickets, he realised that the tickets were fake.

Mcdonald tried to contact the ticket tout but they soon deleted their Twitter account and their number was no longer in service.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo to tell his story, Mcdonald said: “We bought 19 tickets at a grand each so we’ve spent £19,000 between us. It looked legit at first, I didn’t think anything of it. About 11pm last night I was about to go to sleep and my phone was going mad.

“I tried to phone [the ticket tout] and it said the number was not in service anymore and at that point I was like ‘I’ve been done here.’

“Everyone is gutted to be honest. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions.”

He tried to contact his bank in an attempt to get his money back but was told because he had been provided with a ticket they were unable to help him and he should report the matter to police.

Mcdonald isn’t the only Liverpool fan who has been conned out of tickets. He revealed that he had received ‘thousands’ of messages from friends and other football fans who said they’d also been scammed after paying upwards of £1,000 ticket for a ticket.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are doing everything in their power to stop tickets being resold online.
