‘Plateau United, Kano Pillars may decide Rangers’ season’

Fidelis Ilechukwu

Enugu Rangers’ Manager, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has described as potential season-defining matches the club’s forthcoming games against Plateau United and Kano Pillars.

League leaders, Rangers International, will meet Plateau United in a matchday 32 game on Sunday and battle with Kano Pillars in the President Federation Cup next week.

With six matches to the end of the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL),the Rangers’ boss, whose team leads second and third-placed Enyimba and Lobi Stars by two points, knows that any slip now could prove very costly to their title ambitions.

To avert any ‘disaster,’ Ilechukwu and his boys have intensified their training sessions aware that they still have a lot to do to end the season successfully.

“I don’t want to put myself or the players under undue pressure, but we shall do all we can with our young squad to end the season in an appreciable position.

“Against Plateau United and Kano Pillars, we are stepping up the gear to come up with a good result to ensure we keep hope alive in both competitions,” said the reigning League Bloggers Association (LBA) Coach of the Month.

“Against my former club, Plateau United, who is now handled by the former coach of Rangers, Coach Mbwas Mangut, I believe that we understand what is at stake in this encounter and the players are positively going into the fixture leaving nothing to chance.

“We are taking each game at a time, and we are positive. For the game against Kano Pillars in the President Federation Cup, that will be handled after the weekend’s fixture and we are always positive going into every match,” he said.
