Philippe Clement under immediate Rangers pressure now Celtic 'penny' has dropped as pundit issues style warning

Philippe Clement is already under pressure to meet dual Rangers demands.

That's according to Charlie Mulgrew, who reckons the penny has now dropped at Celtic to make the Belgian's job even harder. Clement was appointed as Michael Beale's successor on Sunday and is now tasked with overhauling a seven point gap at the top of the Premiership table. He'll also be expected to deliver the Viaplay Cup whist putting his own stamp on Gers' playing style.

That's easier said than done. Celtic have hit their stride according to Mulgrew, who saw the goalless draw at home to St Johnstone as a turning point for Brendan Rodgers. Clement's CV is an impressive one, but Mulgrew has warned that the demands placed on him in Glasgow will be a truer test of his capabilities.. He told Clyde Super Scoreboard: "The penny seemed to drop after the 0-0 draw at home to St Johnstone. They seem to have got over that, kicked on and found a way of playing after Brendan Rodgers made some tweaks to the system.

'When we look at Rangers, fans need to give the manager a bit of time but unfortunately, at a club like Rangers, you need to implement your style but also win in the meantime. So Rangers are under pressure straight away.

"He's a good manager and looks like he has a good record. Time will tell if he can handle managing Rangers and get his style across. Whether it's the right style or not, we'll soon see. Whether he wins in between that, he'll be judged straight away. I hope he doesn't play with wingers because Rangers don't have any!"
