Philippe Clement slaps down Rangers star Dujon Sterling’s 's***t' confession

Philippe Clement insists Dujon Sterling's inexperience led to him giving a brutally honestly Rangers post match interview where he claimed they had been s*** recently and questioned the squad’s belief. The manager insisted Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk would never have said that.

The Belgian was accused of not being hard enough on his side for their drab Dens Park statement which came just days after defeat in Dingwall to Ross County. After saying they did show a reaction - a point many fans disagreed with - from the Highland horror show, Sterling admitted they had been s*** in recent games.

Sterling’s post match take appeared to be at odds with his boss but Clement - who has Mohamed Diomande fit again after surgery on his thumb but says Ridvan Yilmaz remains a doubt - said of Sterling: “It’s the words of a player who is disappointed because we lost points and maybe lacks a bit of experience in that way. If I see Virgil van Dijk giving a press interview after the game (against Atalanta) it’s totally different and how it should be. That’s things for young players to learn and become better in - it’s more talking out of frustration.

"But I know we can count on Dujon on the field in the last couple of months in the moment he was fit, which also hasn’t been enough the case for me and we will work with him on that also.

"There is nobody who can be more critical than me. I want to win everything. That is the mentality that is necessary at clubs like this. That’s why I love it here. I know what I am doing at this club and that we are on the right road together.
