Philippe Clement sees Rangers striker solution 'staring him in the face' and should have been using it all along

Forget Cyriel Dessers and Kemar Roofe. Rangers' best option to fill the Danilo void is right under Philippe Clement's nose...and he's been fit all along.

That's the unanimous view of pundits Simon Donnelly and Hugh Keevins, who have pinpointed Abdallah Sima as the man to lead the line through Clement's latest selection crisis. Rangers will be without £7m frontman Danilo until after the new year after the Brazilian picked up a second serious injury of the season and Clement has been left cursing his luck.

Kemar Roofe isn't yet fit to play 90 minutes, while Dessers hasn't impressed, and Sam Lammers is preferred in the No.10 position with neither Clement or his predecessor Michael Beale fancying him as an outright striker. It's left fans wondering who will be standing in up front in the busy few weeks ahead.

The issue was debated on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard and one punter phoned up to say the answer was 'staring Clement in the face' - Abdallah Sima. The Senegal winger has scored 12 goals in 26 games from wide positions, including a match-winning double against Hearts during the week, and the theory goes he'd score even more leading the line.

Pundit Donnelly was asked if he agreed and he responded: "Yeah, it makes sense. Sima's in good goalscoring form, he likes to run in behind as we saw with the goal at Tynecastle the other night. Sima is quite composed in front of goal, he's hitting a bit of confidence there.

"That would be the sensible option, then you try and fit in the young lad McCausland in the wider areas. But that would make sense to play him through the middle."
