Philippe Clement Rangers presser in full as John Lundstram Celtic question forces boss to tell fans what he’ll never do

Philippe Clement has told the Rangers support a decision on John Lundstram will be made by his training ground work and NOT by what fans are demanding.

The Light Blues are preparing to face Celtic in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden as they bid to win a domestic trophy double and pick up a first win over Brendan Rodgers' men this season. The Hoops won the Scottish Premiership crown earlier this month with a derby day success over their city rivals putting them on the cusp of glory before getting over the line at Rugby Park.

A big talking point from that game was the dismissal of midfielder Lundstram for a late lunge on Alistair Johnston. The Rangers man was initially only shown a yellow card, but following a review that decision was upgraded to a red leaving Clement's men with just 10 men for the second half. Lundstram is out of contract and will be heading for the exit door with an appearance at Hampden looking increasingly likely to be his last outing for Rangers – if selected.

Asked during his media conference if it is a big call to bring the midfielder back into his team with a percentage of Rangers fans perhaps hoping he would not play against Celtic, Clement said: "I am never going to make decisions about what fans are thinking at that moment. That is emotion. They don't see training or the team working. They don't even know the players and how they are or how they are in the dressing room.

"So I don't think I need to answer that question, if I need to start with him or not. It is about the decision I make with my staff about what I see in training and the last couple of months in the games."
