Philippe Clement rinsed by Celtic TV as Rangers boss hit with 'losers' swipe during heated on field debrief

It was a tough afternoon for Philippe Clement as he failed to see off Celtic and claim the Scottish Cup - but the Rangers boss attempted to motivate his players with a passionate post-match team talk.

And while the Light Blues' players may have taken something from it following the crushing late heartbreak at Hampden - with Adam Idah's late strike handing the Scottish Premiership champions a double - it wasn't impressing the Celtic TV commentary team as they waited for Callum McGregor to lift the trophy. Going into the showpiece, the Belgian boss has been open about his view that the Rangers' squad needs a massive overhaul this summer - just 12 months on from Michael Beale's Ibrox clearout.

With the likes of Ryan Jack, Borna Barisic and John Lundstram set to leave the club following the end of their contracts the wheels may be in motion for a rebuild - but Celtic TV commentator Gerry McCulloch had a feeling of deja vu as he the camera cut to Clement addressing the runners-up. He first took a jab over the result stating: “Rangers will come off first and get their losers medals."

He then went on: "Philippe Clement talks about how it’s the end of a cycle, the end of an era, for the Rangers team and it needs to be a rebuild. That seems to happen every season.”

Speaking ahead of the final league game of the campaign against Hearts, Clement stated: "There will be changes, we need changes I think as a club we are in some ways at the end of a cycle. So we need to change some things."
