Philippe Clement loving Rangers 'b****' of steel as epic Real Betis triumph completed with one simple instruction

Philippe Clement loved all that was gutsy about his Rangers side as they beat Real Betis 3-2 away from home to win their Europa League group and head into the last 16.

The Belgian's side triumphed where Real Madrid could not five day previous in a barnstorming return to Seville for the first time since the 2022 final in this competition. Silky goals from Abdallah Sima and Cyriel Dessers had Rangers level at the break and Kemar Roofe was clinical off the bench to win the night.

Sparta Prague's win over Aris Limassol piled the pressure on with victory needed to remain in the Europa League, and they head into Sunday's Viaplay Cup final with a major high and last 16 place booked. Speaking to Viaplay, Clement said: "It was a very strong performance from my team. I got what I asked from the boys. I wanted to see a team with b****, a brave team, score goals and not only to defend against this top class team. I gave them several challenges over the last couple of weeks and this was by far the biggest one.

"I am really happy about the performance and the team mentality was really great. If we do that all season then you will always have a good season.

"They're a top team. They hadn't lost one game at home all season. It was a big challenge and they took it in a really good way.

"It's not been three times wee counter attacked, we had several other good chances. Of course, on the other side, it is a top team with a lot of quality players and a big budget."
