Philippe Clement brushes off Rangers praise but boss admits Viaplay Cup glory has made him 'hungry for more'

Philippe Clement landed his first Rangers trophy just 64 days after arriving at Ibrox - then insisted all the credit for turning around their season lies at the feet of his players.

James Tavernier’s 76th minute goal won the Viaplay Cup at Aberdeen’s expense at Hampden and even as his squad was lapping up the adulation of their supporters, the Belgian was telling them to enjoy the moment but be ready to get straight back into the league fight against St Johnstone on Wednesday night.

Clement said: “I’m really happy and proud also. If I see the path that the team has taken in the last nine weeks, everyone sees a team who is growing. Rangers are now unbeaten in the 14 matches played under Clement and he is adamant the praise belongs to the men he picks every week. He said: “It’s not about me, it’s about the players. They’ve done it. I didn’t kick one ball, or do one sprint or one tackle. It’s been the players.

“We have done it
