Phil Foden injury concern emerges for Man City star after Manchester United win

Manchester City matchwinner Phil Foden has confirmed he suffered 'a dead leg' following the 3-1 Manchester derby win over Manchester United on Sunday.

Foden, 23, continued his terrific form for City this season with his 17th and 18th goals of the season. His first was a spectacular left-footed strike in the top corner to make it 1-1 before putting Pep Guardiola's men ahead with a low drive past Andre Onana.

The Stockport-born attacker was named Man of the Match for his display against United. His five-star display took place in front of England head coach Gareth Southgate to strengthen his hopes of a starting spot in the summer's European Championships.

"Right now, he is the best [in the league]," Guardiola said. "To be world class you have to win games. He's winning games. Always he scored goals but now he's winning games. When you do this you reach another level as a player.

"He will be already be a legendary player because at his age, the games played, the minutes, the goals scored, the titles won and he is from here and that is why the connection with the fans is unbelievable.

"He is the player of the season. With all respect for the incredible players but no-one has been so decisive for us as him this season."

City will need Foden firing once again in next week's title clash with Liverpool at Anfield. However, there is concern over his fitness on the back of the Manchester derby.
