Man City's proven transfer policy will make millions or save millions as future stars shine

Manchester City's succession plan shows no sign of slowing down after a quartet of young Blues proved their capabilities on the international stage.

Pep Guardiola's side have become the masters of evolving their squad while maintaining exceptional standards and winning consistent trophies in recent years. Part of that is down to recruitment and spending power but bringing through the next generation of stars from the academy is also a key factor.

Phil Foden is the standard bearer with the England international currently in the form of his life and perhaps in line to take the central creative mantle from Kevin De Bruyne. But it is not just Foden who has graduated to the senior set-up with Rico Lewis making a name for himself over the past 18 months.

He may well be the long-term right-back when Kyle Walker moves on. The City success is not just measured in senior appearances either with the club able to generate healthy transfer fees for those they opt to sell, such as James Trafford who left for Burnley in the summer for an initial £15million.

The goalkeeper was in the England Under-21 team for Friday's victory against Azerbaijan and four of his former teammates took to the field. The City quartet all produced strong performances with Taylor Harwood-Bellis' header deflecting in off Jaden Philogene for England's third goal in a 5-1 win.
