Peter Crouch turns Celtic boo boy as he expects Champions League 'struggle' in Atletico Madrid cauldron

Peter Crouch doesn't fancy Celtic against Atletico - and the former striker is anticipating a Hoops struggle in Madrid.

Brendan Rodgers' side are in the Spanish capital to take on the La Liga heavyweights, who they drew with 2-2 at Parkhead last time out. But Celtic have only taken one point out nine in the Champions League after defeats against Feyenoord and Lazio in their opening group matches, leaving them with a need for a shock in Madrid.

Former Tottenham and Liverpool striker Peter Crouch was looking ahead to another card of Champions League action on talkSPORT, where he assessed Man City's chances against Young Boys. But he also ran an eye over Celtic's chances...and doesn't hold much hope for the Premiership champions. Crouch admitted: "Celtic had a good result last time out, didn't they, against Atletico. Celtic, I think they will struggle if I am honest."

Rodgers meanwhile takes a different viewpoint - and insists Celtic aren't going to play second fiddle. He said: “We are not out here just to be a support act.

"Listen, we understand and we respect and we saw in the first game what a really good team they are and the system will challenge you. You really have to defend well as a team against their front two but why not?

"Some of the comments made by Diego after the first game, we maybe have surprised the other teams we have played because of the intensity and the quality and the football. Okay, we might not be in the top European leagues but we can play to a level that can be dangerous.”
