Perth racecourse set for bumper season after huge rise in 2023 ticket sales
Perth racecourse is gearing up for another scintillating season after a surge in ticket sales just a month from the first meeting of the year.
Leading world bookmaker BetVictor has been announced as new sponsor for the three-day Perth Festival in April which will kickstart another six-month calendar of competitive jump racing at the Scone venue.
Raceday ticket presales for the season - which runs from April to September - are up almost 40 per cent when compared with the same period pre-Covid. That includes meetings such as the Edinburgh Gin Ladies Day in May with hospitality already sold out. The fashion-focussed fixture is also boosted by the announcement of a new fashion partner, Tiger Lily Boutique, and Edith Bowman is booked to DJ to get the party for the capacity crowd in full wing.
Total prize money for 2023 is £973,000 and director of operations Morag Connaghan said: “There is real excitement here amongst the team as we edge closer to our first race day of 2023, we are looking forward to once again welcoming racegoers, corporate guests, and sponsors, as well as the owners, trainers, jockeys, and horses that provide the thrilling entertainment on the track.
“With ticket sales up by nearly 40% compared to 2019, we’re delighted that the public continues to share our passion for live racing here at Perth, and we can’t wait to be welcoming punters through the turnstiles in just over four weeks’ time. This is an extremely positive and exciting period for us here at Perth, with the recent transitions as well as the infrastructure investments and support from our loyal customers, we begin the 2023 season in a good place, with an ambition to further increase the customer experience, quality of racing and overall day out
