Pep Guardiola says everyone in the country wants Liverpool FC to win Premier League over Man City

Pep Guardiola says the whole country wants Liverpool to win the Premier League ahead of Manchester City as he vowed to continue disrupting the status quo in English football.

Guardiola led City to a 5-0 win over Newcastle that sent his side three points clear in the table with three games left. The big win also took City's goal difference ahead of Liverpool's as well as giving them an advantage in the 'goals scored' column should the title come down to those metrics.

But it was a comment about the widespread support for Liverpool that is bound to dominate post-match as Guardiola doubled down on a claim that nobody wants City to win the title.

"One week ago, everyone in this country supports Liverpool, the media and everyone," he told BeIN Sports.

"Of course because Liverpool has an incredible history in Europe. Not in Premier Leagues, they have won one in 30 years, but it's not a problem at all. The situation is what it is, we have to do nine points, maybe six, depends on what happens the next two games. Now is Wednesday, a real final for us. We go to try to win. Our destiny is in our own hands, we have to think about ourselves. One point, three points, nothing changes."

Pressed on his remarks, Guardiola said that City are determined to win the title for their own supporters and continue their domestic dominance in the last decade.

"Liverpool are alongside United, the most important teams in history in terms of titles, history, legacy, dramas," he explained.
