Pep Guardiola's anger at Rico Lewis and more Man City moments missed vs Young Boys

With Manchester City three goals and a man to the advantage, Pep Guardiola brought on Kalvin Phillips and Oscar Bobb - a surefire indicator that the game was won. Rico Lewis stayed on, as he had another good game in midfield, albeit against limited opposition. When Young Boys captain Mohamed Ali Camara took umbrage with a late tackle from the youngster, Mateo Kovacic leapt in to defend him and square up to the more senior player.

But it wasn't a completely perfect performance from Lewis. At one point, after City won a free kick, Guardiola caught Lewis' attention from the other side of the pitch and remonstrated with him for an earlier move that had broken down. Lewis held a hand up in apology, but Guardiola didn't seem to accept it, continuing to air his frustration until play resumed.

Even at 18, Lewis is treated as a senior player nowadays. While he may have received some exceptions in the past, these days he gets the same anger from the boss if he doesn't reach the high standards.

During a high-production light show at the Etihad celebrating City's run to win the Champions League last season, there was one thing missing: the away fans. Around 2,000 Young Boys supporters were expected at the Etihad, but the lower of the three tiers of the away end was conspicuously empty as the Champions League anthem was played. En masse, the fans in that lower tier streamed down the steps from the concourse and quickly filled the away section in the lower tier of the South Stand.
